This is my youngest granddaughter. She is with us most Wednesdays whilst her folks work. And we have fun. That is her job, to keep us happy. Our job is to keep her safe.
We visit the zoo, we visit the beach and we spend most of the time smiling. Perhaps eating some of the wrong type foods too.
This is our second youngest grandson. He is with us three days a week. His job is pretty similar to his little cousin’s in the above picture and our commitment to him and his care is the same.
He loves bikes too. I have only got to unlock the garage, and roll a bike out, and he is itching to see, straining his neck to peep out the window.
Initially I wrote the book for my grandchildren. I needed them to know about my accident. Hopefully, they would see something in the words which would make them avoid having an accident themselves.
But I needed more positivity in the book. I really thought that simply writing about the accident wasn’t enough. I personally thought it was a little negative. How wrong I was. As you know the book reached a far wider audience than my family. Thank you to all of you who have emailed, phoned, written to me, stopped me in the street just to tell me how the first part of the book has inspired you. That all happens even before I thunder down Route 66 and various parts of the UK and Europe on a roaring motorbike.
Man! It is such fun!
And, by doing write ups of my adventures, I hope to stay in my family’s thoughts for ever.
In Welsh we state ‘Teulu yw pobeth.’ This translates as ‘Family is everything.’ How true that statement is.
I have had a busy summer. I look forward to sharing more adventures with you.
