The draining, exhausting, two thousand four hundred miles of Route 66 on the back of a motorbike isn’t the most difficult, challenging journey you’ll read about in this book. Ian Gravell might well have travelled every mile of that iconic mother road; across eight states, various time zones, through all sorts of weather and conditions. And he does have a great, entertaining, often humorous, story to tell of the trip that he took. But his journey to be able to ride a motorbike in the first place was much more of a gruelling challenge. In fact, his initial battle was to keep hold of life itself. When he finally managed that, he had to learn to walk again. And then he learned to ride a motorbike. That’s the story.
