Friendship and Generosity

I lost my writing partner recently.

Alun Gibbard was a renowned author, an enthusiastic Welshman and a great friend of mine over the Loose Gravel project and he was the first interview I ever completed on the Loose Tongues podcasts. Alun had been suffering with prostate cancer for a couple of years and he eventually succumbed to it a short while ago.

I shall miss him terribly. He opened my eyes to what I am capable of, and released my inner creative artist.

I am now working full time writing and playing music and this could not have happened  without Alun’s encouragement and influence.

I have not written as much of late. With Alun being so unwell of late I haven’t had the desire to write that much.

But I owe Alun so much. I have so much material to write with at the moment that it is a bit overwhelming. I am going to trawl through the many videos, the documents and the pictures and put something out next year. And then, after some more motorcycle travelling, I am going to write another book. For Alun. I have a few ideas, so I thought of doing a few workshops (most probably in a comfortable pub) and see how the thing pans out.

I would like to thank my many friends for their kind words, warm thoughts and love recently.

And the presents. Thanks so much to Dee for the Route 66 Chronicles book, Non for the political cartoon about Narberth from nearly a century ago, and Taz for the bracelet she made for me.

Because that’s what we do.

We look after our friends.
